TIM EASTERBY

Classic-winning Racehorse Trainer

Tim Easterby has established himself as top Classic-winning trainer, building an impressive reputation and carving out his own place among racing’s leading figures. More than just following in his legendary father’s footsteps, Tim has enjoyed considerable success in his own right.

Tim made an early statement of intent when Bollin Joanne landed the Group 3 Duke of York Stakes at York in just his second season. Since then, his stable has consistently produced high-class performers. Among the standout fillies are Winter Power, Argentine Tango, Flanders, Pipalong, Romantic Myth and Jemima, while the colts have been equally impressive. His roll of honour includes St Leger hero Bollin Eric, alongside fellow Group winners Somnus, Fayr Jag, Mattmu, Wells Farhh Go and Art Power.

One of the defining moments of Tim’s career came in 2002, when Bollin Eric delivered a memorable victory in the St Leger at Doncaster. He has also reached the summit of Group 1 racing with outstanding sprinters Art Power, Winter Power, Pipalong, Fayr Jag and Somnus, further underlining his ability to develop horses capable of competing at the highest level.

Beyond these headline achievements, Tim has saddled well over 2000 winners on the flat and enjoyed memorable success over jumps at the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals with Barton and Hawk High. From Classic triumphs and Group 1 glory to success on the National Hunt circuit, Tim has demonstrated remarkable versatility, cementing his reputation as a trainer capable of producing winners across all seasons and disciplines.

Son of the legendary Peter Easterby

Tim Easterby is the only son of legendary trainer Peter Easterby, who remains the only trainer in Britain to have saddled more than 1,000 winners under both codes. Immersed in the family business from his schooldays, Tim enjoyed success as an amateur rider while spending more than a decade as assistant trainer to his father. He took over the reins in February 1996, bringing with him a wealth of experience and an invaluable grounding in the sport.

In racing terms, Tim received a first-class education. Although Peter Easterby began his training career in the early 1950s with just seven horses, he went on to achieve remarkable success, establishing himself as one of the greatest dual-purpose trainers of all time.
