TIM EASTERBY CONTINUES THE SUCCESS AT HABTON GRANGE
Winners have been flowing from Habton Grange for more than 70 years, and Tim Easterby proudly continues that winning tradition, producing success on the racecourse year after year.
The 2025 season brought further notable achievements. Revival Power, full sister to Winter Power, enjoyed a fantastic campaign, winning the Listed Julia Graves Roses Stakes at York before going on to land the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster. Argentine Tango added to the yard’s success with victory in the Listed Empress Fillies’ Stakes at Newmarket, while the outstanding Art Power captured the Group 3 Renaissance Stakes for a third time, having previously won the race in 2021 and 2022.
In 2023, Art Power continued to demonstrate his class with victory in the Group 1 Champion Sprint Stakes at Ascot, alongside Group 2 wins in the Greenland Stakes and Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh.
One of the yard’s standout achievements came in 2021, when Winter Power produced an impressive performance to win the prestigious Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York.
Other notable successes in recent years include Wells Farhh Go, winner of the Group 3 Acomb Stakes and the Bahrain Stakes, and Mattmu, who captured the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte in 2014 and the Group 3 Phoenix Sprint Stakes in 2015.
With well over 2,000 winners to his name, including Classic success with Bollin Eric, Tim continues to build on the remarkable legacy of Habton Grange. From top-class Flat performers to winners over jumps, the yard’s commitment to producing winners remains as strong as ever, with the ambition to add many more memorable victories to its proud history.

Success in Britain’s Valuable Sales Races
Some of Britain’s most valuable races are reserved exclusively for two-year-old thoroughbreds sold at public auction, making the bloodstock sales an important part of the search for future winners. Tim Easterby is a regular at sales throughout the year, always on the lookout for the next talented youngster capable of making their mark on the racecourse.
One of the yard’s notable successes came in 2002, when Somnus won the Doncaster Bloodstock Sales St Leger Yearling Stakes. Seven years later, in 2009, Midnight Martini continued that success by landing the £300,000 contest. Purchased at the Doncaster sales, the talented filly secured £147,720 for her connections after beating Carnaby Street and Sole Power.
The prestigious Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury is another race in which Tim has enjoyed considerable success, winning the valuable two-year-old contest three times. In 2012, Body And Soul, purchased for just £7,500, delivered an outstanding return for her owners by winning the race and collecting £122,925 in prize money. Tim had previously landed the contest with Flanders in 1998 and Good Girl in 2001.
The Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy is another race in which the yard has excelled. Tim has won the prestigious contest four times, more than any other trainer. The winners include the brilliant filly Pipalong in 1998, champion sprinter Somnus in 2002, and two more talented fillies, Body And Soul in 2012 and Ventura Mist in 2013.
These achievements highlight Tim’s exceptional eye for bloodstock and his ability to turn carefully selected yearlings into successful racehorses, delivering memorable victories and outstanding rewards for their owners.

Tim has continued that success with his three-year-olds taking some more big prizes over the years
In 2021, Winter Power enjoyed an outstanding season, winning two Listed races at York before landing the Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes in impressive fashion as a three-year-old. The previous year, Art Power made his mark with an impressive victory at Royal Ascot before following up in the Group 3 Coolmore Sioux Nation Lacken Stakes at Naas.
Tim has also enjoyed considerable success in York’s £100,000 Three-Year-Old Charity Sprint Handicap, saddling five winners of the valuable contest. In 2017, Golden Apollo produced a strong late run to claim victory, while See The Sun led from start to finish in 2014, following Body and Soul’s success in 2013. The stable’s other winners were Dazzling Bay in 2003 and Artie in 2002.
Another notable performer was Mattmu, who finished second in the Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy in 2014 before going on to land the Listed Rockingham Stakes at York and the Group 2 Critérium de Maisons-Laffitte in France as a two-year-old. He further enhanced his record at three, winning the Group 3 Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh.
